On the opening weekend of the 2012-13 season, legendary St. Anthony's Head Basketball Coach Bob Hurley allows you an inside, all access look into three days worth of his team's preparations for the first scrimmage of the season.

You are rewarded the opportunity to witness and learn from one of the all-time best as he teaches and motivates his team through individual, position-specific skill development drills, team transition drills, defensive drills, and more before closing with a live scrimmage.

The number of drills in this All Access set is amazing and each is taught with an attention to detail you would expect from a Hall of Fame coach. This DVD is great for any high school or club coach looking to develop fundamentally sound basketball players. Coach Hurley's exceptional detail will open your eyes to how to teach proper techniques and strategies to any level of basketball player.

Practice 1

During his first practice session, Coach Hurley's team runs through a dynamic warm-up that features passing and cutting drills using a weighted ball. This requires players to use their legs when they pass and requires an exaggerated form that helps refine technique and develop more snap on their passes.

Guards and post players then divide up to work on position-specific skills. Guards work on basic ball handling fundamentals, cutting around chairs for pick and roll practice, and shooting off of curls.

The post players run cross screens and flashes in the key, short corner work, and some 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 work.

Hurley uses 5-on-0 half court situations to guide you through out of bounds plays and half court sets such as Friar and Side. In this offense, any player without the ball is in motion. The practice closes with a 3-on-3 trapping drill designed to work both offensive and defensive skills.

Practice 2

Coach Hurley uses this session to build his players' defensive skill set. They start with a 2-on-1 drill in the half court that morphs into a help and recover drill, which is followed by a full court lay up drill working on conditioning and technique.

The team then splits into guard and post position work. The guards work on ball handling fundamentals and dribbling around cones simulating screens, feeding various cuts and getting their own shots off the dribble.

The posts work on denying post flashes and post entry passes with fronting, and rebounding drills. The team then works on close outs and block out technique for rebounding. Coach uses detailed instruction to teach his players how to properly box out and pursue every rebound.

Hurley shows 4-on-4 shell to get offensive repetition while his defense works on communication and defending screens.

Practice 3

This session is heavy on full court action in order to review all aspects of everything covered in the prior practices.

Coach Hurley concentrates on full court transition, conditioning, power moves to finish at the rim, and box out technique drills. As Hurley continues to prep his team for the upcoming scrimmage, he uses this practice to show you how they work to defeat a zone defense designed to slow down and stagnate any man-to-man offense. The offense is taught to utilize the high post as a means to collapse the zone, with the high post looking to immediately pass to a drifting wing player sinking below the zone for an open shot.

He demonstrates how to "Flood" the defense when they try to press in the full court. Seven defenders are instructed to execute a 1-3-2-1 press against his five-man press break "Flood" Offense. He demonstrates how to prepare before your first big contest with a detailed 5-on-5 scrimmage that has a high energy level and leaves your team feeling good about the work they put in during practice.

This DVD will add more than 25 proven fundamental skills and team development drills to your arsenal.

"In my opinion, this is a MUST-OWN for coaches! He is a teacher of the game, explains the how's and why's of everything he does, and I believe that's why he's been so successful!"
Jordan Nelson; Iowa High School Boys Basketball Coach
